It’s that time of year again! No, the tulips aren’t popping out just yet, but the Parade of Homes signs are everywhere! Each year, the Parade of Homes gives visitors the opportunity to see a wide variety of new homes along with the very latest in residential design trends. But what you might not realize is that during the event, one weekend each year is dedicated to showcasing remodeled homes. This year—for the first time—J&D Builders has a house on the tour!
This featured home is in the Highland area and began with a complete “tear down” of the existing structure. The homeowners wanted to maintain the home’s old-world charm and 1930s Tudor styling, while doubling their family’s living space. Collaborating with designer Barbara Mingo, J&D was able to meet these goals.
The resulting home boasts lots of space and the ultimate in upgrades, including:
- 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths
- Stone/stucco exterior
- Cambria tops, and hickory floors,
- Artisan stone steps and bluestone patio
- Remotely controlled lighting, audio, security and electronics
This house and others like it will be on display in the Spring 2014 Parade of Homes Remodelers Showcase, which takes place March 28-30, 2014. The event is open Friday from 1:00 to 7:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6:00 pm. Parade guidebooks are available, free of charge, at area Holiday Station stores.
