Image of Home with old ugly porchNew remodel

This project involved the renovation of the exterior and interior of a sunroom/porch area. While the home was built in the early 1900s, a sunroom was added in the late '60s without regard to the home's existing style. The current owners wished to renovate the porch so that it better matched the historic look of their home, while making the area more usable.

The new sunroom features old world brick, stone caps and floor tiles, all salvaged from the original structure. The "recycling" approach helped to maintain the home's heritage while also reducing costs. With a nod to the modern, J&D installed new, energy-efficient windows and improved insulation, taking the area from a seldom-used space to a three-season porch that can be enjoyed much of the year.

This client wished to update their 1950s-style kitchen, while bringing back the historic charm featured throughout the rest of their home. While appliances were updated, J&D provided traditional trim and flooring to match the home's existing woodwork. Windows above the sink and a shallow buffet helped to create a more spacious feel.
