These homeowners, who both provide piano training to highly gifted students, needed to expand their in-home studio to accommodate four grand pianos and allow both of them to teach simultaneously without hearing each other! The homeowners were especially concerned about the temperature and humidity requirements of the pianos and also wanted to ensure that the historic charm of their early 1900s home was maintained.

Although the homeowners originally sought to build out over the existing garage, J&D suggested that they expand from the back of their home, allowing for more convenient access. The J&D design also allowed for a much needed mudroom and better flow between the new and existing areas. To tie new and old spaces together, J&D provided paint and detailing to the existing areas and used what was an exterior brick wall as an interior wall in the new room.

The end result provided the homeowners with everything they needed. Beginning with a smart floor plan, J&D then combined state-of-the-art climate controls and soundproofing materials that provided the homeowners with the functionality they needed.
